Saphir is built 1998 by the high quality shipyard in Holland, Van Dam. The Nordia models are in aluminium and it gives a very strong hull. The roder is in a skeg. All sail and winches are hydraulic. The anchor Ultra 60kg with 80 meters of chain in stainless steel. Saphir had a refit in 2010 and then a strong custom window and cover with material like a cab on a car was put on, this cover was changed 2017 to a hardtop, together with a very deep cockpit it makes it very suitable for ocean sailing. Inside a large engine room with a Perkins head engine, Onan gen set, hydraulic pump, desk wash pump, fresh water pressure pump, Ebersprächer heater, air con and a lot more that makes maintenance work very easy.
There is a large owner's cabin in the back with WC/shower and in the front two guest cabin with a combined WC/shower. There is no gas onboard and the stove is electric. Freezer and cooler are large and the kitchen has a nice stone bench. The diesel tank is of 1200 liters, water 1500 liters, graywater 150 liters and two black water tanks of 100 liters each.
As of 2020 Saphir is fullfilling ARC world safety regulations when an SSB/HF ICOM 802 radio has been installed
