About us

During all the years we have been together our favorite vacations has been sailing or travelling. To be able to combine them in the future is something we are looking forward to. This picture is from summer of 2013 when we was visiting Beirut and Byblos in Lebanon.

Our plan and dream

Our plan is to sail to Sydney and then feel how we like to continue. We will join ARC + in 2022 with start 6th of November from Gran Carnaria via Cape Verde to Grenada and then ARC World Pacific in February 2023 from St:Lucia to Panama, Galapagos, Marquesas in French Polynesia, Hiva Oa, Bora-Bora, Tahiti, Fiji and many more. In Fiji we will leave ARC World Pacific and head for Minerva reef and New Zealand. Then have a brake during the hurrican saeason and then continue to Sydney/Australia. After that we can join ARC World in Darwin to continue over the Indian Ocean, South Africa, Brazil, Caribbean, Bahamas and the Azores back home or take a yacht transport from Australia to the Mediterranean to continue sailing home.

Short history of The Boat

She was built in 1998/1999 by Van Dam shipyard, a yard founded 1881 in Aalsmeer, Holland. She was back at the yard for a refit the same year they built the last new yacth. Van Dam and it's Nordia Yachts are known for their best quality construction, extreme high standards and detailed finishing. Saphir has been very little used and had only 778 hours on main engine when last owner, after buying Saphir in 2009, brought her to the yard 2010 to have an extensive refit. After traveling around Europe looking at 7-8 different yatchs we found Saphir for sale in Holland autumn 2013. She had what we have been looking for to be able to sail around the world in comfort and safety. Sins begining of 2014 she is under our care and we continue to upgrade and chersih her to have her in outstanding shape. We are continuing to upgrade Saphir and trying and testing everything to be ready and in 2022 it's time to go. We are members of the Swedish ocean sailing club www.osk.org and Ocean Crusing Club www.oceancruisingclub.org
